World-class mountain bikers Andreas Hestler and Seamus McGrath (left), along with Victoria’s Jeff Clarkson, 18, park their bikes for a few minutes Sunday after completing a club race at Caleb Pike in the Highlands. The three are part of Team Aviawest Mountain Bicycles, a non-profit group that promotes mountain biking and healthy lifestyles for young riders. McGrath, formerly of Langford, won a silver medal last weekend at the Pan-Am Championships in Argentina, while Hestler is a two-time Canadian champion who competed in the 1996 Summer Olympics. |
