Team Aviawest-Rocky Mountain riders had another great weekend of racing with
3 wins and 5 total podiums at BC Cup events June 9-10.
The Mountain bikers started things off at the BC Cup event in Kamloops on
June 9. In the Pro men's race Team Aviawest-Rocky Mountain rider Craig
Ritchey cruised to a decisive victory, putting over 6 minutes into his
closed competitor.
The Junior Men's race was a closer affair, but in the end the result was the
same as Jeff Clarkson finished in first, with team mate Evan Flater taking
3rd spot.
The Mountain bikers cleaned up, then high tailed it to Abbotsford for the
Atomic Road Race on Sunday morning.
In the combined Junior and Category 3 race the team worked together to
perfection with Jeff keeping the pace high on the last lap setting up Evan
for a big attack at the base of the final climb. Evan's attack strung out
the field and provided the perfect lead out to Kurtis Vallee (Junior) and
Nic Hamilton (Cat 3) who sprinted to an Aviawest-Rocky Mountain 1-2 finish.
Jeff and Evan rolled through shortly after in 8th and 13th spots.
