"Steve's TeenSpeed club is far and away the best coaching and training any new rider could ever hope to get. He's helped me immensely in my career,
best bike coach around, period!"
Olympic Triathlon Champion,
Simon Whitfield

Our goal is to help young riders get into the sport of cycling either to
race, or just have fun on their bikes. But for those with high aspirations,
our program can take you to the top.
The Aviawest-TeenSpeed Cycling Club has a proven record of helping young
athletes achieve their goals! Over the past 6 years, TeenSpeed Cycling has
turned athletes with no race experience into winning racers, competing for
Team Canada at both Mountain Bike and Road World Championships.
Are you our next Champion?
The Aviawest-TeenSpeed program is Victoria's only professionally coached
non-profit cycling club exclusively for young riders! Our mandate is to
provide a fun environment for athletes aged 12-19 to learn how to ride their
bikes better and participate in regular exercise activities, developing
future bike racers and getting kids off the PlayStation and on their bikes!
Aviawest Teen-Speed trains under the guidance of one of Canada's top cycling
coaches, Steve Lund, who has extensive experience coaching both developing
athletes and champions such as Olympic Triathlon Gold Medalist, Simon
Whitfield and US Pro Tour Cycling Champion Gina Grain. Steve graduated from
the University of Victoria's National Coaching Institute in 1998, he is a
Level 4 certified coach and NCCP Master Course Conductor with over 20 years
experience in cycling.
All group training sessions are designed specifically to foster the
physical, technical and tactical cycling development of athletes in this age
group. Group training will be performed in age and ability specific groups
to encourage and develop teamwork and group dynamics. Training sessions and
rides lead by the coach will be the norm, rather than training on your own,
as athletes at this level will gain the most with consistent one on one
interaction with a coach and a group of their peers. All athletes will
receive assistance in planning their race schedule to meet their goals and
match their level of development. The long-term development of each athlete
is of the utmost importance. Long term goals and involvement in sporting
activities will always be stressed over short-term results.
"I love riding with the TeenSpeed gang, it's a ton of fun and it's great to
see how fast all the kids are getting!" Gina Grain, 2006 World Track
Championships Silver Medalist, 5 time Canadian National Champion,
